Live for Speed is an online racing simulator developed by Scawen Roberts (game engine), Eric Bailey (tracks & cars) and Victor van Vlaardingen (music, website, sales). It's main features are the realistic physic engine and internet multiplayer with up to 32 players. The game is only sold at the official website http://www.LiveforSpeed.com. You won't find it in any shops as the developers want to stay independent from any publisher, so they can include exactly the features they want to have in the game and do not have to change the game according to some manager's opinion. Starting as a demo in August 2002 more and more people tried the game and joined the internet community. With a lot of development progress the first stage (S1) of the game was published in July 2003. Two years later (2005) the S2 Alpha version was released and is constantly under development till this day. The three developers have a close connection to the community and they frequently visit the official forum to get ideas of what the players want to see in the game. All the new updates to the game are accessable by the auto updater from within LFS.

== Physics engine ==
The outer loop of the physics and environment checks run at 100 Hz, but with 20 uninterruptable sub-updates inside that (tight loop on each car) so in one sense it's 2000 Hz physics.

* Sometime in 1999: Working on Lionhead's Black & White, Scawen starts to write a small stunt simulator with mouse steering in his free time

+Live for Speed est un simulateur de courses en ligne développé par Scawen Roberts (moteur physique du jeu), Eric Bailey (voitures et circuits) and Victor van Vlaardingen (musique, sites internets, ventes). Ces majeurs points forts sont le moteur physique du jeu offrant un très grand réalisme et le mode multijoueurs qui permet d'affronter jusqu'à 31 adversaires simultanément. Le jeu est vendu sur le site http://www.LiveforSpeed.com. Vous n'allez pas le trouver en magazin parce que les développeurs veulent rester indépendants et donc de ne pas faire appel à un éditeur. Par ce fait ils peuvent développer le jeu selon leurs propres idées et envies, sans obéir aux ordres d'un quelquonque patron. Depuis la sortie de la démo en Août 2002, de plus en plus de monde a essayé le jeu et rejoint la communauté sur internet. Avec énormément de progrès en terme de développement, la première version du jeu, S1(Stage 1 en anglais) a été publiée en Juillet 2003. Deux ans plus tard (2005) la version S2 Alpha a été publiée et est constament développée jusqu'à aujourd'hui. Les trois développeurs ont un contact très proche avec la communauté et visitent régulièrement le forum officiel pour avoir idée de ce que les joueurs veulent avoir dans le jeu. Tous les nouveaux patchs sont téléchargés par un programme de mise à jour automatique, fonctionnant à l'interieur de LFS.
